Midwife Support at Empower
Meet our Midwife
Midwife General Information
I would love to see you throughout your pregnancy to provide care, support and enhance your experience.
Personally, I found having my little ones has been the most incredible and challenging time of my life. The difficulties that pregnancy can bring, the transition to becoming a parent, feeling overwhelmed with breast feeding issues and adjusting to life with a newborn baby has contributed to me developing a deep desire to support parents at this momentous time in their lives.
My days here at Empower O & G are filled with supporting the team of doctors, triaging phone calls, providing education to all parents, ward visits to see the new families, bonding and phoning women who have been discharged home and making sure they have supports in place.
I am available during clinic hours to assist with your general pregnancy or post birth questions. Please do not hesitate to contact me. You will have the opportunity to book a time with me for a meet and greet at 32-34 weeks, and an education appointment at 36 weeks.
‘Meet & Greet’ Appointment
At your meet and greet appointments at 32-34 weeks, I think it is important to touch base and see how you are feeling. We can discuss any of your concerns ranging from what to bring to hospital, where to go when you are having your baby, to preparing to come home with your newborn.
Education Appointment
Your appointment at 36 weeks is to learn more about “antenatal expressing of colostrum”. Whether you plan to breast feed, formula feed or are undecided, being able to hand express in the last few weeks of your pregnancy is a fantastic way to become familiar with your anatomy and learn how to collect and store your first type of milk, colostrum. I will provide you with the education you need to begin freezing your colostrum to bring to hospital and giving you the supplies to continue this practice in the comfort of your home.
